| Reflections 1. What has been especially meaningful to you personally and professionally? Recently I was asked, “Why do you always have to be a part of leading a group?” I didn’t quite know how to respond, but I knew that I was slightly offended. After a few short minutes, I responded to the person and said, “I don’t choose to be in leadership positions. Everything that I am currently affiliated with, I was chosen or asked to lead those groups.” When I think of this conversation, I think of the summary of how the Lord calls on his servants to lead. The summary states – God doesn’t call the equipped. He equips the called. Now I find much honor in being selected, asked, or chosen to lead. It doesn’t mean that I have everything that I need at that time. It ensures me that Isaiah 58:11 is true, and that ‘the Lord will guide you always; he will satisfy your needs -‘. 2. What is one way you plan to utilize this strength in your vocation? I will continue to be active in professional organizations to understand the needs of the profession and the clients I serve. A these needs are voiced, I will do my best to pour into the work required to take a stance and make a difference in the given areas of concern. 3. What is your plan to develop excellence in this area? I plan to transition from general member to one who joins committees and takes a leadership role in the organizations that I am affiliated with. 4. Reflect on how faith in Christ relates to this competency. I Thessalonians 5:11 declares, “Therefore encourage one another and build once another up, just as you are doing.” This is a reminder to seek community in times of struggle. A leader who advocates, seeks struggles and challenges to find ways to eliminate them through other supports. |
